A pleasure boat sunk in Hangang River on Tuesday, near Sungsoo Bridge. A total of 11 people were rescued without casualty.
Stern of the ship started to sink at about 2:30 p.m. The situation was soon reported to fire authorities and everyone on board was soon rescued and moved to a secure location. Five among six passengers were foreigners and others were crewmen.
It is not clear how the ship sank, but experts suspect damage in the engine room, water leak resulting in power generator to a halt. The cause of the accident will be analyzed after the ship is salvaged.
The ship still lies in the riverbed of Hangang River, which is about 6 meters deep. Its stern submerged. Currently, engineers are draining water out of the ship and salvaging will start on Wednesday.
