SEOUL -- Self-driving cars will test their driving skills against human drivers next month on a hazard course full of unexpected obstacles and simulated on-road conditions at a South Korean autonomous motor show.

The contest will take place at a three-day motor show, which starts on November 17 in the Pangyo Techno Valley, an industrial complex focusing on information, biotech and cultural technology in southern Seoul. The show will be hosted by the provincial government of Gyeonggi

Organizers said human participants would drive Hyundai Starex vans to compete with three self-driving mini-buses created by French autonomous carmaker Navya on a test road. They will test driving skills by passing through narrow roads, making an emergency stop to avoid unexpected obstacles and parallel parking at designated spots.

At the show, about 30 car technology companies will showcase products. An autonomous mini-bus developed by the Gyeonggi Advanced Institute of Convergence Technology will be showcased.
