KT said it would quickly spread various service robots owned by LG Electronics into customer life and cooperate in developing new robots. "We hope that service robots will approach customers' daily lives more easily and the domestic robot industry will take a leap forward," Song Jae-ho, head of KT's AI and digital transformation convergence business division, said in a statement on August 17.
KT has released care robots and quarantine robots since it dispatched its first AI-based concierge robot called "N bot" to a Seoul hotel in December 2019. In January 2022, the company partnered with Yandex SDG, an autonomous vehicle development wing of Russia's top web portal service company Yandex, to release a delivery robot by customizing Yandex SDG's six-wheeled robot.
"We hope that more consumers will experience LG Electronics' customized robot solutions optimized for various spaces through this collaboration," LG's business solutions division head Jang Ik-hwan was quoted as saying.
LG jumped into the service robot market in 2017 by deploying an autonomous service robot called "CLOi" to Incheon International Airport to help people navigate around the gigantic facility. CLOi robots have been used in hospitals, department stores and exhibition halls.
