SEOUL -- Singer G-Dragon has declared war against cyberbullies who maliciously defame the 35-year-old former BIGBANG member by spreading groundless rumors about a drug scandal. G-Dragon's warning was sent out about a week after police found no evidence of illegal use of drugs on the singer's hair and nail samples.

The singer and actor Lee Sun-kyun, who became globally popular after his appearance in the academy-winning film "Parasite," directed by Bong Jun-ho, were put under a drug investigation on suspicion of illegal drug use. The singer and actor were summoned for interrogation in early November. G-Dragon strongly denied the use of drugs through a press conference while Lee apologized for causing a concern.

Through a series of tests, the police found no evidence in either of the samples submitted by the celebrities, causing a social backlash that the investigators forcefully carried out drug investigations based on the testimony of an adult entertainment bar hostess who was being investigated for the same accusation.

The 29-year-old adult entertainment bar hostess claimed that the former BIGBANG member and the globally recognized actor used drugs including marijuana at the private bar. A total of ten celebrities were investigated. Through online communities and social media, cyberbullies created content using past interview videos and news footage about the singer and claimed his body movements showed signs of drug addiction.

The private adult entertainment bar is located in Seoul's southern district of Gangnam, famous for rapper Psy's 2012 global hit song "Gangnam Style." It is not rare for South Korean celebrities to hang out in private adult entertainment bars because of privacy. The private drinking clubs provide enclosed rooms for guests in enclosed bar rooms tended by dedicated waiters.

G-Dragon's attorney released a statement on November 22 and said: "Legal actions are currently being pursued against individuals responsible for malicious postings, including defamation, insults, harassment, dissemination of false information, and malicious slander against G-Dragon."

The attorney said that evidence has been collected through monitoring and tips from fans and legal actions will be taken with no mercy. According to G-Dragon's lawyer, multiple legal complaints are to be made.
