SEOUL, April 11 (AJU PRESS) - RCA Records, an American record label that includes Justin Timberlake and Khalid, has signed a contract with Lisa, a Thai member of K-pop girl band BLACKPINK. The 27-year-old will collaborate with the American record label for her new songs.
RCA Records said on Thursday that the agency signed a deal with Lisa to release her solo music. "Lisa is a multidimensional talent and an irrefutable global force. We are thrilled to welcome her and her team to the RCA Records family," RCA Record CEO Peter Edge said in a statement. RCA Records' other popular artists include Doja Cat, P!NK, Foo Fighters, and SZA.
"I'm super excited to be joining the RCA family, and I am confident they are the best team to create a bigger movement in my solo career," Lisa said in a press release. "Looking forward to showing the world everything we have been preparing." The Thai artist currently boasts more than 100 million Instagram followers. She is also set to appear in the third season of American TV series "The White Lotus."
Not only famous as a BLACKPINK member, Lisa has gained immense popularity as a solo artist. In May 2023, her solo album titled "LALISA" was listed in Guinness World Records after being streamed over one billion times on Spotify, the world's most popular music streaming service. Through the album's lead single of the same name, the Thai artist presented how K-pop could blend with other cultures by featuring traditional Thai dance and other cultural assets of Thailand.
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment announced in December 2023 that none of BLACKPINK members will renew their individual contracts with the agency. However, four members will continue their group activities under YG.
