SEOUL, May 20 (AJU PRESS) - The Turkish Navy's corvette-class warship is set to dock in Korea's southern port city of Busan next month, the Turkish Embassy in Seoul said last week. As part of its Asian tour of 20 countries, the TCG Kinaliada will make a two-day stopover in Korea starting from June 4.

During its visit, ordinary visitors will be allowed to board the warship for a brief tour.

In a press briefing in Seoul on May 17, the Turkish Embassy said that the warship embarked on its four-month voyage in April to visit about two dozen ports across 20 Asian countries.

"This expedition is being undertaken to increase the visibility of the Turkish Naval Forces, introduce our national platforms, and advance bilateral relations with the countries to be visited," Türkiye Embassy's Communications Counsellor Sercan Dogan told reporters.

Dogan explained that Kinaliada was built on Türkiye's first modern ship platform that houses a network-supported combat management system. The system facilitates communication between the ship and its headquarters, enabling data exchanges and coordination with other linked vessels.

As part of Türkiye's MILGEM project for homemade warship development, the construction of Kinaliada began at a shipyard in Tuzla, Istanbul in October 2015 and the ship was launched in July 2017.

With a displacement of 2,400 long tons, the corvette is powered by two diesel engines and a gas turbine with an output of 47,000 horsepower. It boasts a range of 6,500 kilometers (4,038 miles) at 15 knots (28 kilometers per hour). Kinaliada accommodates a crew of 93 with capacity for up to 106 seamen.
