SEOUL, August 01 (AJU PRESS) - U.S. law enforcement agencies are utilizing Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip smartphones as body cameras to enhance public safety, the company said Thursday.

The initiative began two years ago in Kimberling City, Missouri, marking the first use of foldable devices for this purpose. Following a successful six-month trial, the program has expanded to police departments in Texas and Arkansas.

The Galaxy Z Flip series was chosen for its compact design, high-quality camera and versatile features, according to the company. It enables officers to capture crime scene evidence, record witness interviews and track real-time locations via GPS. The device can instantly upload footage to cloud servers for live streaming to police control centers.

Samsung optimized the smartphone for law enforcement use, allowing quick recording activation without unlocking the device. Todd Lemoine, Kimberling City's police chief, praised the Z Flip for improving operational efficiency and team communication.

Currently, Samsung is working to implement the technology in 25 cities across five U.S. states. The company is also collaborating with police forces in 39 countries worldwide, including Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia, to support the development of innovative products for corporate and public services.
