The victory marked the second Olympic gold for both Kim and Lim, who were also members of the gold-medal winning men's and women's teams, respectively. They join sabre fencer Oh Sang-uk as double gold medalists for South Korea in Paris.

The mixed team event, introduced at the Tokyo Olympics, has become a staple of the archery competition. South Korea has now won both Olympic titles in the discipline.

Kim's gold medal is his fourth career Olympic title, tying him with three other South Korean athletes for the most gold medals in the country's Olympic history.
