SEOUL, October 15 (AJP) - Cho Hyun-joon, the chairman of South Korean conglomerate Hyosung Group, has pledged massive investment in Viet Nam during a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi, the group said on Tuesday.

Cho visited Prime Minister Pham the previous day to discuss future business cooperation.

"I agree with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's statement during his visit to Korea that for the next 30 years, cooperation between Korea and Viet Nam is essential in various fields, such as securing supply chains, responding to climate change and transitioning to a digital economy," Cho said during the meeting.

"To contribute to Viet Nam's economic development, we aim to make additional investments that exceed our existing investments," he added.

Hyosung, which first entered Vietnam in 2007, has already invested about 5.4 trillion won (US$3.97 billion) in the country across various industries, including spandex products, heavy electrical equipment, chemical products and information technology.

The company currently generates annual sales of 5 trillion won from its operations in Viet Nam.
