SEOUL, November 18 (AJP) - South Korea's LG Energy Solution will supply cylindrical batteries to Bear Robotics, a Silicon Valley-based AI-powered service robot company.

LG Energy Solution announced on Monday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Bear Robotics regarding a battery cell supply agreement and technological collaboration.

Starting in 2025, LG Energy Solution will be the sole supplier of cylindrical "2170" lithium-ion batteries, commonly used in electric vehicles, for service and industrial robots produced by Bear Robotics, such as "Servi Plus" and "Carti 100." The companies will also discuss further collaboration, including technical partnerships.

With its collaboration with Bear Robotics, LG Energy Solution plans to accelerate its expansion into the robot market.

Previously, LG Energy Solution revealed its strategy to diversify its product and customer portfolio in non-electric vehicle industries.

Bear Robotics, founded in 2017 by former Google engineer John Ha, is an AI and autonomous robot-based mobility platform startup. The company was the first in the world to develop and start selling a serving robot and is actively expanding its business in 20 countries, including South Korea and Japan.
