SEOUL, November 19 (AJP) - An artificial intelligence-powered companion robot developed by Hyodol has been selected as a supplier on a state-run platform dedicated to supporting innovative products from startups, the Korean robot maker said Tuesday.

The platform, called Venture Nara, is operated by South Korea's Public Procurement Service to help startups and venture businesses. Products with excellent technology and quality are evaluated and designated as innovative startup procurement items, and they are granted access to public institutions along with promotional and credibility benefits.

The Korean company's care robot has already been distributed to around 80 percent of local governments in the country, with more than 11,000 elderly individuals currently using it. In September, the Ministry of Health and Welfare selected the robot for a pilot program to provide long-term care benefits for the elderly.

The robot supports seniors by monitoring their activity, providing reminders for medication and walks, and notifying guardians or a central control system if extended inactivity is detected. Built with ChatGPT-based technology, it engages users in interactive conversations, promoting emotional well-being and cognitive health.

"We are thrilled that the quality and technology of our AI care robot have been recognized. Our entire team will continue working hard to enhance the health and happiness of seniors, staying true to Hyodol's vision," said Hyodol CEO Kim Ji-hee.
