SEOUL, December 12 (AJP) - A global forum focusing on the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in communication is set to kick off in Istanbul on Friday.

Organized by Türkiye's Directorate of Communications, the International Strategic Communication Forum, also known as Stratcom Summit, will bring together government officials, academics, and industry leaders to discuss the latest AI trends, challenges, and transformative potential in communication.

Over 3,000 guests from 30 countries are expected to participate in the two-day event. The forum aims to foster international collaboration and knowledge sharing on the strategic use of AI in communication.

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and the Presidency's Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun are set to deliver opening remarks. Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan will also attend, along with other ministers and communication heads from various countries. A special video message from UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Melissa Fleming will also be shared.

"We all recognize that AI, along with emerging technologies, offer revolutionary opportunities in the sphere of communication," said Altun.

"This transition also poses significant risks that must be considered. At the [forum], we will assess these opportunities and risks, discuss how we should develop AI technologies to benefit humanity and plan our future together as humanity, with participants from all over the world joining us in İstanbul," he added.
