SEOUL, December 23 (AJP) - South Korea's military has detected that North Korea is taking steps to send additional troops and equipment to support Russia, including the potential deployment of suicide drones.

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) on Monday, North Korea is supplying Russia with 240mm multiple rocket launchers and 170mm self-propelled artillery. The JCS also revealed that North Korea is making efforts to produce and supply suicide drones, including those showcased during Kim Jong-un's recent on-site inspection.

"Suicide drones are a key priority for Kim Jong-un," said a spokesperson for JCS. "While no signs of mass production have been detected yet, it is reported that the North has expressed its intent to supply drones to Russia."

It further assessed that the North aims to use the wartime situation to deplete its aging military assets while gaining combat experience with new forces to modernize its conventional military capabilities.

North Korea and Russia agreed in June to provide military assistance without delay if either side finds itself in a state of war.
