As the sales deadline for the second National Participation Growth Fund approaches, 452.5 billion won has been raised over eight business days, reaching 75.4% of its target amount.

On October 14, the Financial Services Commission announced that the National Growth Fund, which began accepting investments on September 30, has raised 452.5 billion won, or 75.4% of its 600 billion won target. The fundraising will conclude on October 15.

Analysis of sales trends indicates that securities firms outperformed banks, and online sales were more active than offline sales. Firms such as Mirae Asset Securities, Samsung Securities, Korea Investment Securities, Kiwoom Securities, NH Investment & Securities, and KB Securities sold out their allocated shares, while NongHyup Bank achieved the highest performance among banks, selling 91% of its target amount. Most other banks, however, fell short of expectations.

The National Participation Growth Fund is a private equity fund that allows general investors to indirectly invest in 12 advanced strategic industries, including artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, biotechnology, secondary batteries, and robotics, which are typically difficult for individual investors to access.

The funds raised by the three public offerings will be allocated to ten sub-funds, ensuring that investors in any management company will invest in the same portfolio, resulting in identical returns.

In the event of losses, the burden will be shared by the government’s finances and the subordinate investments of the sub-fund managers, minimizing the loss for investors. However, the principal is not guaranteed.

Tax benefits are also available. Investors who meet the requirements by subscribing through a dedicated account can receive income deductions of up to 18 million won based on their investment amount, and a separate tax rate of 9.9% applies to dividend income.

The fund is a closed-end product with a five-year maturity, and early redemption is not possible. It can be transferred through a stock exchange within 90 days of establishment, but if transferred within three years of investment, the tax benefits received may be recaptured.

The second fund will sell the remaining 147.5 billion won worth of shares on a first-come, first-served basis until 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Among ten banks, NongHyup Bank has the largest remaining amount at 11.54 billion won, followed by KB Kookmin Bank at 7.71 billion won, Woori Bank at 5.18 billion won, Shinhan Bank at 3.84 billion won, and Hana Bank at 3.35 billion won, totaling 36.22 billion won in remaining shares.

Fourteen securities firms hold a total of 111.3 billion won in remaining shares, with Samsung Securities at 18.82 billion won, Korea Investment Securities at 16.15 billion won, Mirae Asset Securities at 15.17 billion won, KB Securities at 14.78 billion won, and Kiwoom Securities at 12.86 billion won.
