Seongnam youth are set to participate in a creative project that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to transform local everyday spaces into game content.
On October 20, the Seongnam Cultural Foundation announced its collaboration with Smilegate Hope Studio to launch the youth AI game creation project titled 'Our Neighborhood Player.'
According to the foundation, 28 participants will take part in the project, including youth from the Jeongja Youth Center's after-school academy and young mentors majoring in software and AI or interested in AI creation.
Starting November 6, participants will spend six weeks exploring game themes in local everyday spaces such as school routes, parks, and subway stations, using generative AI to create stories, images, and sounds for their games.
The completed games will be showcased on an online platform and presented at a results sharing event at the Jeongja Youth Center on December 18, aimed at peers and parents.
This initiative is designed to allow youth to reinterpret local spaces from a new perspective and experience the entire creative process from content planning to production and public release using AI.
The project aims to foster collaboration between youth and young mentors, sharing experiences in technology use and expanding opportunities for creative activities.
Yoon Jeong-guk, the foundation's CEO, stated, "This project connects businesses with the community to provide youth with new cultural and artistic creation experiences," adding, "We will continue to support youth in experiencing diverse cultural and artistic activities."
The foundation plans to expand cultural and artistic programs in collaboration with businesses and local organizations and to explore citizen participation projects that combine art and technology.
