LS Electric is enhancing its focus on markets with high demand for quality power, such as semiconductor factories and data centers, by adopting the Korea Electric Power Corporation's (KEPCO) fault prediction technology for power facilities. The company aims to expand its power solutions business by acquiring integrated management capabilities that detect anomalies in power equipment and link them to maintenance.
On November 4, during the BIXPO 2026 event at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center in Gwangju, LS Electric announced that it had signed a technology transfer agreement with KEPCO for its preventive diagnosis solution for power facilities, known as SEDA.
SEDA is a preventive diagnosis system developed by KEPCO for substations. It analyzes the condition of key equipment, such as gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and transformers, in real-time and classifies the risk of failure into five levels. When anomalies are detected, it sends alerts to facilitate proactive responses before incidents occur.
According to KEPCO, since the introduction of SEDA, 88 equipment failures have been prevented from 2021 to the present. Last year alone, it reportedly saved approximately 37 billion won in repair costs.
LS Electric plans to apply the transferred technology to its own Condition Monitoring System (CMS). This will be integrated with its Asset Management System (AMS) to establish a framework that supports everything from equipment diagnosis to maintenance and operational management.
In semiconductor factories and data centers, the risk of power equipment failure can lead to production halts or service disruptions, making it crucial to continuously monitor equipment status and identify potential failures in advance.
This technology adoption marks a shift from merely supplying power equipment to expanding into operational solutions, including preventive diagnosis and maintenance. LS Electric intends to broaden its business focus on advanced industrial facilities where stable power supply is essential.
Chae Dae-seok, CEO of LS Electric, stated, "By combining KEPCO's preventive diagnosis technology with our power facility management capabilities, we will enhance our solution competitiveness. We aim to expand our business in markets where stable power supply is critical, such as semiconductor production and data centers."
