"Doctors concluded that Shin died from ischemic brain damage caused by hypoxia," the agency, KCA Entertainment, said.
Shin was in a coma when he was taken to the Seoul Asan Hospital in southern Seoul on Oct. 22, where he underwent emergency operations, hospital officials said.
He was moved to the hospital about an hour after receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at another hospital in Seoul as he had a widespread infection in the peritoneum, they said.
Shin is survived by his wife, one son and one daughter.
