There are onsite and nearby restaurants and cafes at Schloss Schonbrunn or Schonbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Experienced travelers often advise not to eat at the touristic sites but there is one exception at Schonbrunn Palace. The restaurant is called Cafe Residenz.
It serves imperial delicacies like Emperor Franz Joseph's favorite dish called Tafelspitz. The restaurant is owned and operated by the Querfeld family who also owns historic Cafe Landtmann that was found in 1873.
The entrees, desserts, and cocktails were amazing even though the place was packed with tourists. There are many dishes that were other Habsburg royals' favorite for the restaurant guests to check out.
The outdoor patio is packed on a sunny day, so if you are in a hurry or you want to dine in a quieter setting, try to seat inside.
