SEOUL -- SHINEE, a popular K-pop boy band, will return to the South Korean music scene at the end of May, about six months after its member Jonghyun committed suicide in December last year.

According to the four-member group's agency Monday, the boys will return next month with a new album. SM said SHINEE will also hold a fan meeting event on May 27 in Seoul to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the group's debut.

SHINEE debuted in 2008 and became one of the iconic bands in the K-pop scene. The group remained active in overseas countries holding concerts and fan events at the end of last year, just after Jonghyun's death to keep its promise with fans.

Jonghyun was found unconscious at a rented studio on December 19 last year in a police search at the request of his sister. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Police discovered brown coal briquettes burnt in a frying pan at the scene.
