[SK Global Chemical]
SEOUL -- SK Global Chemical, a chemical unit of South Korea's SK group, developed new high-performance plastics that are light and durable enough to be used widely for automobile interior and exterior materials such as bumpers and dashboards.
The company said Wednesday that the new product called "highly crystalline plastics (HCPP)" is eco-friendly with its strength much higher than the previous one. It can be produced in a light and thin form.
SK Global said HCPP is eco-friendly to meet tightened regulations on the use of plastics because it would improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
"The development of new high-quality polypropylene with excellent environmental value has been a result of actively responding to market changes, based on differentiated technologies," SK Global Chemical CEO Kim Hyung-kun said, adding his company would try to secure a lineup of eco-friendly plastic products.
