SEOUL -- The younger sister of Jay Y. Lee, the virtual head of South Korea's Samsung group, resigned as president of Samsung C&T's fashion division to head a charity organization established by her ailing father.
Samsung Welfare Foundation said Thursday that Lee Seo-hyun, 45, became its new chief for a four-year term. Her duty at the non-profit organization, which offers childcare, senior care, medicine, women advancement and juvenile mental health programs, would begin on January 1.
Lee Seo-hyun is the second daughter of Samsung Group's bedridden patriarch Lee Kun-hee. Her sister, Lee Boo-jin, controls Hotel Shilla, an operator of luxury hotels and duty-free shops.
