Samsung Electronics said in a statement uploaded onto its news blog that it will release "Galaxy SmartTag" on January 19. Using Bluetooth low energy technology, the smart tracker can be attached to non-connected objects such as a key chain or a dog's collar. Users can press the button on SmartTag to sound the alarm on their phones to make it easier to find.
When the tag loses connection with its host device, it will notify users about whereabouts by communicating with nearby Galaxy smartphones or tablets. It uses a replaceable button-type battery that lasts about 300 days. SmartTag is priced at 29,700 won ($26.8).
