SEOUL -- SK Lubricants, the lube-making wing of South Korea's SK Group, has forged a win-win partnership with Hanjin, a major logistics service operator, to test a new eco-friendly engine lubricant product to see if it can reduce carbon emissions and pollutants.

SK Lubricants said in a statement on March 30 that the company would work with Hanjin to provide an eco-friendly engine oil product for delivery trucks. Hanjin will provide data collected from trucks using SK's new product and conventional engine lubricants. The two companies will analyze operation data to expand the adoption of eco-friendly engine oil.

"We wish that our cooperation becomes a successful model that contributes to the society by reducing carbon emissions," SK Lubricants CEO Cha Gyu-tak was quoted as saying. Hanjin CEO No Sam-sok said that his company would help freight workers reduce the burden of fuel costs. SK Lubricants said that its ultra-low viscosity oil product can help a delivery truck reduce 3.7 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
