IoT sensor devices using wireless communication techniques including Bluetooth communication are ideal for monitoring environments because they do not consume very little power and can be created into tiny sizes as small as a coin.
Yongsan District said in a statement on June 9 that the district government will cooperate with SKC Infra Service to install some 30 IoT monitoring devices in manholes. "Starting with this year's demonstration, we will expand the number of sensors to 400 by 2023," an unnamed Yongsan official was quoted as saying.
Various data collected through sensors will be sorted and analyzed to create flood prediction models and a detailed map of sewers. The data will also be used as information for the development of related policies.
