SEOUL -- Naver Cloud, a cloud computing service wing of South Korea's top web portal operator and IT company, unveiled a metaverse construction and operation solution called "Metapod" that provides end-to-end management to customers who want to build a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection.

Metapod was characterized as a specialized solution for customers who want to hold short-term events on the metaverse, which is a collective virtual shared space, created by the convergence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual space.

Various online events such as conferences and seminars, in-house interviews and education, job fairs, local festivals, and fan meetings can be implemented. "As non-contact emerges as a new paradigm and rapidly increases business demand using metaverse across the industry, the launch of cloud services to build metaverse is not an option but a necessity," Naver Cloud's sales executive director Lim Tae-kun said in a statement on September 2.

Naver Cloud said it would introduce a comprehensive management service that maximizes Naver's technology and collaboration with partners. Customers can tailor the extended virtual world to their business, from an extended reality (XR) space to a digital twin. Marketing services such as reservation and advertising are supported for customers who use Metapod solutions.

Naver Cloud would continue to introduce products that link its solutions with Naver services. The company would strengthen a system that allows partners to smoothly provide content and services. The ultimate goal is to become a large metaverse platform provider that builds its own worldview-based extended virtual world. Naver Cloud joined forces with professional partners to form a metaverse service alliance.
