Baby Shark's creator gains explosive popularity in U.S. with latest series

SEOUL -- "Bebefinn," a three-dimensional animated series featuring the five-member family of a 20-month-old baby, is garnering explosive popularity in the United States. The animation show created by South Korea's educational entertainment company Pinkfong has recorded 250 million views in the U.S. with 20 million hours of accumulated viewing time.
 
Finn is an animated child who loves to play with Baby Shark. He has four family members -- mother, father, brother, and sister. Finn's family showcases different dance movements with catchy songs that are easy to sing along to. The English YouTube channel of Bebefinn has garnered 5 million subscribers as of April 2023. In December 2022, the Bebefinn series was rolled out on Netflix in 190 countries with English, Spanish, and Korean subtitles.
 
Pinkfong said in a statement that Bebefinn's cumulative views were about 2 billion with 140 million hours of viewing time. The content was most popular in the U.S. Helped by fast-growing popularity with catchy melodies and collaboration with Baby Shark's family, the English YouTube channel of Bebefinn has garnered more than 140,000 subscribers as of April 26, nearly three weeks after its release. 
 
Pinkfong has gained global popularity through its Baby Shark content. Baby Shark portrays a story about a family of great white sharks with colorful visuals and a catchy melody. The "Baby Shark Dance" video uploaded in 2016 garnered more than 12 billion views on YouTube. As of November 2022, the Baby Shark song was streamed more than 200 million times on the UK Singles Chart, beating Despacito, a popular song released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi.
