Government data showed that South Korea's exports to India reached $18.8 billion in 2022, up 21 from a year ago. South Korea's imports also rose 10.5 percent year-on-year to $8.9 billion. South Korea's primary exports include semiconductors and steel plates, while the main import products are petroleum products and aluminum.
At the event held in Yongsan on December 13, Indian envoy to South Korea Amit Kumar highlighted the two nations' consistent partnership and promised to improve it. "India, with an annual GDP of $3.7 trillion and projected to grow at relatively fast rates for the next two decades, offers significant opportunities for collaboration and partnership including in advanced manufacturing, construction, and logistics," the ambassador said during his speech.
The event was also attended by Chung Byung-won, deputy minister for political affairs in South Korea's foreign affairs ministry. Chung said the two countries should continue to cooperate to strengthen the multi-faceted partnership. About 120 guests took part in the event including Anil Sinha, the head of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and former South Korean Ambassador to India Shin Bong-kil. Performers from South Korea and India showcased the Indian folk dance "Lavani."
