Hyundai and Kia cars top maximum range test for EVs

SEOUL -- Three electric vehicle models released by Hyundai auto group have dominated a range evaluation test conducted by an American online automotive information company.

Data released by the automotive website Edmunds on February 12 showed that Hyundai's Ioniq 6 rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model topped the list for the test for maximum electric vehicle range. This EV model recorded a maximum range of 1,396 kilometers (867 miles) with one hour of charging.

Kia's EV6 RWD model took second place with a range of 1,238 kilometers, while the Ioniq 6 all-wheel-drive (AWD) model came in third with a range of 1,230 kilometers. Other electric vehicles from the Hyundai Motor Group also reached the top 10 in the range rankings. Kia's EV6 GT Line (1,091 kilometers) claimed fifth place, while Hyundai's Ioniq 5 AWD model (1,083 kilometers) and Genesis G80 electrified model (946 kilometers) secured sixth and eighth place, respectively.

Meanwhile, Tesla's Model 3 Long Range model achieved tenth place with a range of 916 kilometers. The Model Y Long Range had a range of 866 kilometers, placing it 14th. GM Chevrolet's Bolt EUV Premier (277 kilometers) ranked lowest at 43rd place, while the base Bolt model (288 kilometers) reached 42nd place.
