SEOUL -- South Korean crime thriller series "A Killer Paradox," directed by Lee Chang-hee, has topped Netflix's weekly TV series chart for non-English content. The thriller series depicts the story of a killer who accidentally murders without leaving any evidence, and a detective investigating the case.

The over-the-top (OTT) media service said that A Killer Paradox garnered some 5.5 million hours of viewing between February 12 and February 18. The South Korean content was the most watched show in 10 countries including Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

The series delves into the tale of the murderer known as Lee Tang. Every time he commits murder, the victims are revealed to be evil characters who have committed horrendous crimes, leading Lee to gradually believe that he has special abilities. Lee was played by Choi Woo-shik, a Korean-Canadian actor well-known for his role in the Academy Award-winning film "Parasite."

The thriller series was created based on a web cartoon of the same name. Web cartoons, also known as webtoons or webcomics, are digital comic books tailored for web or mobile platforms. Webtoons originated in South Korea in the mid-2000s. Popular webtoons are recreated into different content including TV dramas and films such as Kingdom, a Netflix Original drama series that depicted a zombie-infested kingdom.
