SEOUL, June 25 (AJU PRESS) - Korean IT services provider SK C&C has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CarbonEX, Japan's leading carbon credit trading platform, to enhance cooperation in carbon neutrality efforts and stimulate carbon credit trading, the company said on Tuesday.

The partnership aims to explore ways to interconnect their respective voluntary carbon credit platforms, potentially allowing Korean and Japanese companies to freely purchase and trade overseas carbon credits on both platforms, SK C&C said in a statement.

CarbonEX, established last year, currently facilitates carbon credit trading for some 1,000 companies through its voluntary carbon credit platform while SK C&C owns Centero, a self-developed carbon certification and trading platform.

"This collaboration combines our accumulated experiences and expertise to help manufacturing companies in both countries secure sustainable net-zero and ESG (environmental, social and governance) capabilities," said Bhang Su-in, head of SK C&C's digital ESG group. "We will strive to expand the voluntary carbon market not only in Korea and Japan but throughout Asia."
