SEOUL, August 19 (AJU PRESS) - Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics on Monday reported strong performances in the global TV market, each dominating different segments in the first half of 2024.

Samsung said that it continued its reign as the overall global TV market leader for the 19th consecutive year, citing data from market research firm Omdia.

The company achieved a 28.8 percent market share by value and 18.3 percent by volume.

Samsung's success was driven by its new AI TV lineup and strong performance in the premium segment.

In the over $2,500 price range, Samsung dominated with a 52.8 percent market share and maintained the same share in the highly competitive over $1,500 market.

Samsung captured 29.6 percent of the overall 75-inch and larger TV market, including a 33.5 percent share in the 80-inch and above category.

Citing the same data, LG said it maintained its leadership in the OLED TV market, shipping 1.34 million units and capturing about 53 percent of the global OLED TV market share.

LG's success was particularly notable in the large-screen segment, where it held a 58 percent market share for OLED TVs 75 inches and larger.

LG's overall TV shipments, including both OLED and LCD models, reached 10.77 million units, accounting for 16.6 percent of the global TV market by value.

The global TV market showed signs of recovery in the first half, with total shipments increasing by about 2 percent year-over-year to 94.47 million units.

OLED TV shipments, in particular, grew by 6.7 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 2.55 million units.
