SEOUL, September 4 (AJP) - Visitors are invited to indulge in a taste of royal cuisine at Gyeongbokgung Palace in central Seoul this fall. A culinary program at the historic palace, which began on Wednesday, runs until the end of October, offering a unique opportunity to savor traditional Korean confectionery and refreshments once served to royal families.

"This special experience allows visitors to sample royal court desserts and medicinal teas through the reenactment of the kitchen that served the kings and queens of the Joseon Dynasty, known as 'Saenggwabang,'" the Korea Heritage Service said.

The offerings feature an assortment of traditional snacks paired with herbal teas, which are based on recipes from historic records in ancient annals and old books.

The program has four daily sessions at 10:00 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 1:50 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Each session, which accommodates 32 participants, lasts about 70 minutes. It is not available on Tuesdays, the palace's regular closing day.

Tickets for the program can be purchased from Ticketlink at a cost of 15,000 Korean won (US$11).
