At the annual event showcasing Italian cuisine, chef Cristina Bowerman shared replicable recipes using ingredients from the Puglia region of southern Italy.
"The Puglia region is abundant with a diverse range of ingredients delightful to the palate, such as vegetables, seafood, mushrooms, and cheese," she said.
"I'm so delighted to introduce our cuisine to visitors and see them enjoy the foods made by Bowerman," said Vice Governor of Puglia Raffaele Piemontese at the event.
When asked about his favorite culinary delicacy from the region, known for its high-quality virgin olive oil, he chose orecchiette pasta with radish greens, adding that South Koreans would love its spicy flavor.
Italian Ambassador to Seoul Emilia Gatto, who also attended the event, emphasized the importance of moments of interaction to promote each other's cultures, expressing her happiness in introducing authentic Italian foods to people here in Seoul.
The event, which kicked off earlier this week and runs until Nov. 24, is part of the programs being held under the name of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World. It is hosted by the Italian Embassy in Seoul, along with the Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul, the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and Italy's state-run tourism agency ENIT.
