SEOUL, January 13 (AJP) - Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho's new Hollywood film will have its world premiere at this year's Berlin International Film Festival.

Slated for release here on Feb. 28, "Mickey 17" has been invited for screening at the festival, which kicks off its 10-day run on Feb. 13.

This marks Bong's return to the festival after more than a decade, since his previous post-apocalyptic thriller "Snowpiercer," starring Hollywood stars like Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton, was screened in the non-competition section in 2014.

The adaptation of the 2022 novel by Edward Ashton tells the story of a cloned space explorer sent to an ice-covered planet.

The sci-fi blockbuster has already generated much buzz with its star-studded cast including Robert Pattinson who appeared in "Twilight" and "Tenet," Mark Ruffalo, known for his role as the Hulk in Marvel Comics' superhero franchise "The Avengers," and Korean-American actor Steven Yeun, familiar to many South Koreans for his appearance in Korean-American director Lee Isaac Chung's Oscar-winning film "Minari."

Meanwhile, Pattinson will visit Seoul next week to promote the film and meet fans here before heading to Berlin.
