Chey, who also heads the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), will attend the Trans-Pacific Dialogue (TPD) in Washington D.C. from Feb. 21 to 22.
The TPD, hosted by the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies where the SK chairman serves as head, has emerged as a platform for opinion leaders from South Korea, the United States, and Japan since its inception in 2021.
This year's agenda will spotlight U.S. foreign policy and cooperation strategies in the artificial intelligence era, marking the first Washington visit by a leader of South Korea's top four conglomerates since Trump's second inauguration.
While the full roster of this year's participants remains under wraps, sources indicate that a direct meeting between Chey and President Trump appears unlikely during this visit.
The visit comes as South Korea is facing economic challenges amid a leadership vacuum following the martial law crisis in the country, with Chey's trip expected to focus on broader national economic interests beyond SK Group's corporate agenda.
