Jung Jeom-sik Expects Budget Concerns to Be Addressed in Meeting with Park Hong-geun

Jung Jeom-sik, the leader of the People Power Party, met with Park Hong-geun, Minister of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, on June 22, expressing hope that Park would alleviate concerns about budget allocations being influenced by specific political interests.

During their meeting at the National Assembly, Jung stated, "If next year's budget is allocated fairly and appropriately to where it is needed, the People Power Party will actively cooperate in the National Assembly's review process regarding the budget."

He added, "The current economic situation is very difficult due to rising prices and high interest rates. In particular, the underprivileged, including ordinary citizens, expect the government to implement effective policies."

In response, Park emphasized that principles such as necessity, appropriateness, and fairness must be upheld in budget distribution. He noted that approximately 750 trillion won is expected to be spent this year, with even higher expenditures anticipated next year. "The budget must reflect national strategies, consider the lives of citizens, and achieve balanced growth, so we will manage it well," he said.

Park also mentioned, "I am considering gathering opinions from the National Assembly during the budget preparation phase, transcending party lines, regarding investment directions and key projects for the next fiscal year. We aim to restructure unnecessary or inefficient projects to prioritize funding for more critical areas."
