MG Saemaul Geumgo Foundation is launching a social contribution project aimed at expanding market access for local farmers while providing nutritional support to children in their growth stages.

According to the financial sector on June 25, the MG Saemaul Geumgo Foundation will implement the 'MG Rural-Urban Nutritional Support Project' for the first time this year. The foundation plans to distribute 'MG Nutritional Packages' to approximately 3,000 children through a project worth 200 million won in the third quarter.

The foundation will purchase seasonal produce from local farms, including so-called 'ugly food' that is deemed less marketable due to appearance or size, thereby supporting farmers with stable market access. The purchased produce will be distributed to low-income families and children at risk of food insecurity through the national food bank under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Through this initiative, the foundation aims to enhance the value of locally produced goods, provide new market opportunities for farmers, and create a virtuous cycle by supporting healthy food for growing children.

Kim In, Chairperson of the MG Saemaul Geumgo Foundation, stated, "Sharing the difficulties of local farmers and supporting the healthy growth of children is the beginning of coexistence with the community. We hope to rediscover the value of agricultural products and become a warm link that delivers healthy food to children in need."

Meanwhile, the Saemaul Geumgo Foundation has been continuously engaged in social contribution projects for future generations. Last year, it donated 200 million won to support safety education for 1,000 children in areas facing population decline and remote regions. From 2019 to 2024, it provided opportunities for 36,906 children in culturally isolated areas to watch crime prevention musicals. Additionally, from 2018 to last year, it supported 800 scholarship recipients with 1.91 billion won for housing, education, and living expenses.
