The Kakao Union announced it will proceed with its planned "Logout Day" strike on June 29, citing that ongoing negotiations have not reached an agreement.

On June 26, the Kakao chapter of the Korean Chemical and Textile Workers Union stated, "We will carry out Logout Day as scheduled." This form of strike involves members refraining from work for a day through annual leave or time off, and logging out of work systems.

The union clarified that the day will be marked by a complete logout without any separate gatherings or offline actions.

Participants in Logout Day will include members from five subsidiaries currently engaged in the strike, including Kakao headquarters, Kakao Pay, Kakao Enterprise, DK Tech, and XL Games.

According to both Kakao and the union, negotiations are ongoing. However, the union claims that discussions have not yet reached a level where an agreement can be made.

The conflict between Kakao and the union began during this year's wage negotiations, focusing on demands for job security measures and changes to the compensation system. The union is seeking performance bonuses amounting to approximately 13-14% of operating profit, along with separate payments of restricted stock units (RSUs). In contrast, the company has expressed concerns that meeting these demands could impose burdens on its management environment, making it difficult to fully accept the union's proposals.

In response, the union conducted a four-hour partial strike and a rally in the Pangyo area on June 10. Following negotiations that failed to reach an agreement at the local labor commission, the Kakao headquarters joined the strike, marking its first-ever labor action.

Logout Day is a continuation of the union's collective action following this strike.

The union stated, "We are currently discussing the future methods of the strike."
