SEOUL, July 1 (AJP) - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist of China, state media reported on Wednesday.

According to North Korea's state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim reaffirmed his country's "firm will" to further strengthen its "traditional relationship" with its close ally, based on a shared socialist ideology and longstanding historical ties.

Kim also recalled his summit with Xi in Pyongyang early last month, calling it a "historic occasion of deepening the comradely friendship and trust” between the two traditional allies, KCNA said.

A banquet hosted by Chinese Ambassador Wang Yajun was also held at the Chinese Embassy in Pyongyang the previous day with senior North Korean officials including Jo Yong-won and Kim Song-nam in attendance.

Stressing the need to share a common destiny across generations by "helping and protecting each other," Wang said China is willing to strengthen strategic communication and deepen exchanges.
