Dongkuk CM, a subsidiary of Dongkuk Steel Group specializing in coated and color steel plates, is enhancing its eco-friendly color steel plate brand, "Re-Born Green Color Steel Plate," as it targets the resource-circulating steel material market.

On July 2, Dongkuk CM announced that it has increased the recycled plastic content in its Re-Born Green Color Steel Plate from 10% to 25% and successfully developed new designs in "Matt" and "Stone" types.

The Re-Born Green Color Steel Plate is the world's first color steel plate developed using recycled plastic materials, launched in November 2023. Each ton of this product can recycle the equivalent of 100 PET bottles, or 500 milliliters each.

After approximately three years of research and development, Dongkuk CM has maximized the recycled material content by 2.5 times, increasing the recycling effect from 100 PET bottles to 250.

In addition to increasing the raw material usage, Dongkuk CM has enhanced marketability by implementing the new "Matt" and "Stone" designs, which replicate the texture of natural stone, providing differentiated design solutions for architectural interior and exterior materials.

With a high percentage of recycled plastic content, Dongkuk CM is the only company in the world that can maintain the same level of processability, durability, and aesthetic quality as existing color steel plate products.

A representative from Dongkuk CM stated, "We plan to expand the application areas of the Re-Born Green Color Steel Plate beyond construction materials and home appliances to various industrial materials, while continuously strengthening our eco-friendly product portfolio based on a circular economy."

Choi Woo-chan, head of the Dongkuk CM Technology Research Institute, remarked, "This product secures both the eco-friendly value of plastic recycling and the quality and design competitiveness of color steel plates. We aim to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality and a circular economy through continuous development of eco-friendly material technologies and lead the global eco-friendly color steel plate market."

Dongkuk CM plans to accelerate the development of eco-friendly, high-value color steel plates based on its "DK Color Vision 2030" initiative, aiming to establish a sales system for 1 million tons of color steel plates by 2030.

Additionally, Dongkuk CM's Luxsteel received certification for excellent building materials from the Korea Institute of Architects for two consecutive years in May.
