Kia is expected to surpass 200,000 cumulative sales of its dedicated electric vehicles in South Korea by early July.

According to Kia, as of last month, the cumulative sales of its electric vehicles based on the dedicated platform E-GMP stood at 195,355 units.

Since launching the EV6 in 2021, which utilizes the E-GMP platform, Kia has introduced additional models including the EV3, EV4, EV5, EV9, and the purpose-built vehicle (PBV) PV5.

Sales of Kia's dedicated electric vehicles have increased annually, with 11,023 units sold in 2021, 24,852 in 2022, and 25,279 in 2023. However, sales dipped slightly to 23,917 units in 2024 due to a slowdown in electric vehicle demand. Last year, sales surged to 46,313 units, more than doubling.

Demand for electric vehicles has surged this year, with 63,971 units sold in the first half, tripling the figure from the same period last year, which was 21,378 units. This number has already surpassed last year's total sales.

The best-selling model among Kia's dedicated electric vehicles is the EV6, with cumulative sales of 76,821 units, accounting for about 40% of total sales. Following the EV6 are the EV3 with 52,494 units and the PV5 with 18,836 units.

If this sales trend continues, Kia is projected to achieve its highest electric vehicle sales ever this year.
