To address the limitations of traditional theoretical training and enhance workers' risk awareness and emergency response capabilities, the Onsan Smelter began gradually building its experiential training facilities in 2023. The center was officially opened last year, and it has since expanded its training facilities and content, receiving recognition as a 'Safety Training Center' from the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
The Onsan Smelter's safety training center features a total of 39 types of training equipment across six training zones, including protective gear, plant operations, construction, and fire and emergency response. The setup allows trainees to experience key hazardous situations that may occur on-site, such as chemical leaks, confined spaces, conveyor entrapment, crane lifting, falls from openings, scaffolding work, and fire suppression and evacuation.
