한국엡손 has announced a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nexpot Solutions to expand the anti-counterfeiting security label market and develop high-value label solutions.

The agreement was signed on July 29 at the headquarters of 한국엡손, with representatives from Seiko Epson, 한국엡손, and Nexpot Solutions discussing technological collaboration in the digital label market and strategies for new business expansion.

As the global competitiveness of K-brands rises, the distribution of counterfeit products has increased across various sectors, including cosmetics, food, health supplements, and industrial goods. Consequently, there is a growing interest in anti-counterfeiting technologies and security labels that allow for easy verification of product authenticity.

Through this partnership, the two companies plan to combine Epson's SurePress L-6534VW with Nexpot Solutions' security technology to jointly expand differentiated security label solutions.

The SurePress L-6534VW utilizes Epson's proprietary Digital Varnish ink, which creates optical effects that change color depending on the viewing angle, and features high-opacity white ink that enables various special expressions. It is optimized for producing high-value labels that enhance brand value beyond standard label printing.

Nexpot Solutions develops and supplies various anti-counterfeiting solutions, including QR code-based genuine product authentication, and has been providing security labels utilizing the Epson SurePress L-6534VW to major domestic companies. Notably, through testing with Epson equipment, they have implemented security technologies that are difficult to replicate through photography or scanning, securing a competitive edge in differentiated anti-counterfeiting solutions.

With this agreement, the two companies aim to expand a new security label solution that combines existing QR-based authentication technology with special printing techniques like digital varnish, while also providing differentiated high-value label solutions to existing customers. This is expected to contribute to brand protection, enhance product competitiveness, and create new business opportunities.

Jun Morohushi, CEO of 한국엡손, stated, "As the damage caused by counterfeit products increases, security technology has become a crucial element in protecting brand value. Through this collaboration, we will combine Epson's digital printing technology with Nexpot Solutions' security technology to provide differentiated value to customers and contribute to the expansion of the domestic security label market."
