It is part of a project with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) under an official development assistance (ODA) program with Marrakech, the former imperial capital of Morocco.
Under the project, Hyundai will provide 15 of its Elec City electric buses, fast chargers, and related equipment, while offering local training and technical support for vehicle operation and maintenance.
A handover ceremony was held at its plant in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province the previous day, attended by officials from KOICA and the Moroccan Embassy in South Korea.
As the first South Korea-made electric buses supplied to Morocco, they will run on routes connecting major tourist areas in Marrakech, supporting the city's transition to more environmentally friendly public transportation.
With the first two buses manufactured, the remaining 13 are scheduled to be delivered at a handover ceremony in Marrakech in the first quarter of next year.
"We will provide eco-friendly commercial mobility solutions suited to driving conditions in diverse regions and contribute to building a sustainable transportation environment," said Park Cheol-yeon, a Hyundai executive.
Launched in 2018, the Elec City is a mass-produced electric bus powered by a battery and electric motor.
