APR has received international certifications related to its artificial intelligence (AI) management system and product reliability, becoming the first beauty company in the world to achieve both.

On September 22, APR announced that it has obtained the 'ISO/IEC 42001 (AI Management System)' certification and the 'AI Trust Mark' from Norway's Nemko.

ISO/IEC 42001 is an international standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that evaluates how companies manage the risks and opportunities associated with AI systems and whether they have established and operate a management system for the development, provision, and use of AI.

To achieve certification, APR developed a management documentation system consisting of 46 types across seven layers, covering everything from planning to disposal of AI-based personalized care services. The company also established a clear structure for executive accountability to ensure transparent and systematic risk management, with designated teams responsible for risk identification, assessment, and response, while executives oversee the overall AI management system.

Notably, the certification process integrated existing records from the ISO 9001 quality management system and information security management system (ISMS) to ensure that the AI management system operates cohesively with existing systems.

The AI Trust Mark certifies the reliability and safety of AI applied to actual products. The certification specifically pertains to the AI care mode of the MediCube AGE-R 'Booster Pro X2,' which analyzes skin conditions and usage history to recommend personalized care methods and stimulation intensity.

APR designed the AI care mode to recommend intensity and duration within a defined safety range. In the event of a malfunction, it automatically switches to a rule-based mode, allowing users to make the final selection of the settings recommended by the AI.

Building on this certification, APR plans to continuously integrate AI technology into beauty devices, expanding personalized care features that reflect individual skin conditions and usage histories.

An APR representative stated, "The simultaneous acquisition of these two certifications signifies that the management systems of companies developing and operating AI, as well as the reliability of AI applied to actual products, have been validated against international standards. We will present services that incorporate safety, transparency, and accountability in the process of integrating AI into beauty tech."

Meanwhile, APR reported a consolidated revenue of 767.533 billion won in the second quarter of this year, marking a 134.2% increase compared to the same period last year. MediCube has ranked first in the beauty category during Amazon Prime Day for the first and second quarters of this year.
