SEOUL, September 23 (AJP) - Korean Air was included among the top 10 of the world's best airlines, earning top honors for its economy-class seats and cabin crew, the South Korean flagship carrier said on Wednesday.
In Skytrax's rankings for this year's World Airline Awards released on Tuesday, Korean Air ranked 10th overall, placing in the top 15 in 14 categories.
The London-based aviation research and consulting firm releases the rankings annually based on surveys of passengers across more than 300 airlines worldwide.
Singapore Airlines reclaimed the top spot from Qatar Airways, which ranked No. 2 this year. It marks the sixth time it has taken the honor since the awards began in 1999, while U.S. airlines were absent from the top 10, with none even making the top 20.
In category-specific rankings, Korean Air came in first for "Best Economy Class Airline Seats," up from third place last year, and was also named "Best Cabin Crew in South Korea" for the second consecutive year.
It ranked sixth for "Best Airlines in Asia," after Singapore Airlines, which took the top spot, followed by Cathay Pacific Airways, ANA All Nippon Airways, Hainan Airlines and Japan Airlines.
Korean Air also placed seventh for "World's Most Family Friendly Airline" and 10th for "World's Cleanest Airline."
"The latest rankings reflect our continued efforts to renew our services and enhance the quality of travel for passengers," a Korean Air spokesman said.
