Doosan Enerbility continues to expand its presence in Vietnam's gas combined cycle power market.

The company announced on October 1 that it has signed a contract with Vietnam's state-owned energy group, PVN, for the construction of the O Mon 3 gas combined cycle power plant. The contract is valued at approximately 840 billion won.

In this project, Doosan Enerbility has formed a consortium with PTSC, a local energy service company and subsidiary of PVN, to handle engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. The company will also supply the steam turbines, marking the first time its turbines will be used in a gas combined cycle plant in Vietnam.

The O Mon 3 power plant will be built within the same complex as the O Mon 4 plant, which Doosan Enerbility secured last year, and is located about 180 kilometers southwest of Ho Chi Minh City. The plant will have a total generation capacity of 1,155 megawatts and is expected to be completed by 2030. Once operational, it is anticipated to contribute to stabilizing electricity supply in southern Vietnam.

Including this contract, Doosan Enerbility has secured a total of five gas combined cycle power plant projects this year, amounting to approximately 3.87 trillion won.

Lee Sung-yeol, head of Plant EPC Sales at Doosan Enerbility, stated, "By winning the O Mon 3 project following the O Mon 4 project, we have once again demonstrated our competitiveness in Vietnam's gas combined cycle power market. PVN, the project owner, is also planning to expand gas combined cycle plants in the O Mon power complex and northern-central Vietnam, so we will actively pursue further contracts in the Vietnamese power market based on the successful execution of this project."
