On October 2, the KOSPI index closed higher as individual and foreign selling was absorbed by other corporations and financial investors. The KOSDAQ, however, ended lower due to foreign selling.

Lee Kyung-min, a researcher at Daishin Securities, stated, "The domestic stock market is fluctuating within a range amid caution over macro variables such as interest rates and oil prices, showing a sideways trend near the 7,000 mark. The lack of new momentum to offset the burden of high interest rates is leading to a wait-and-see approach."

He added, "Until the preliminary results of Samsung Electronics are announced on October 8, interest rate volatility is likely to influence the direction of the stock market. In the absence of clear events, limited fluctuations are expected to continue, with sector-specific differentiation amid a supply-demand gap from foreign and institutional investors."

Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the dollar/won exchange rate closed at 1,351.4 won, down 8.1 won from the previous trading day.
