More than 900 citizens from disadvantaged communities in Seongnam attended a classical concert, thanks to the collaboration between private enterprises and local cultural institutions.
According to the foundation, the Seongnam Cultural Foundation hosted 'Kim Hyun-cheol's Joyful Orchestra' on October 6 at the Seongnam Arts Center Concert Hall.
The event was made possible through the support of HL Mando and in partnership with the Seongnam Volunteer Center.
Citizens, including users of local social welfare facilities who typically have limited access to classical performances, were invited to enjoy the concert.
The concert was conducted by Kim Hyun-cheol, a former comedian, who combined performances of classical masterpieces with explanations about the pieces' backgrounds and musical characteristics, along with humor, to help the audience better understand and appreciate the works.
Notably, the concert featured a blend of commentary and performance, making classical music more accessible to those unfamiliar with the genre.
This concert was significant in providing an opportunity for citizens with limited access to cultural and artistic experiences to engage with classical music.
Audience members expressed their delight at having the chance to experience classical music firsthand.
Those who usually find it difficult to visit classical concert venues reported that the combination of explanations and humor made the music feel more approachable.
The foundation plans to expand cultural welfare initiatives through collaborations between private sector social contribution activities and local cultural institutions.
Yoon Jeong-guk, the foundation's CEO, stated, "It is meaningful that businesses and the local community have collaborated to create opportunities for citizens to access cultural and artistic experiences."
The foundation also aims to continue broadening opportunities for cultural enjoyment based on private sponsorship and cooperation with relevant local organizations.
