SK Gas has set a goal to achieve an average pre-tax profit of over 450 billion won by 2030. The company plans to expand its business areas and secure new growth drivers based on its liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) infrastructure.

On October 14, SK Gas held a 'CEO Investor Day' at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, where it presented its mid-to-long-term growth strategy and capital allocation plans to domestic and international institutional investors and analysts. CEO Yoon Byeong-seok served as the keynote speaker.

SK Gas has seen its average pre-tax profit increase from about 100 billion won between 2015 and 2019 to around 300 billion won from 2020 to 2025, more than tripling. During the same period, cash dividends per share rose from 2,000 won to 9,000 won, a 4.5-fold increase, while the average total shareholder return (TSR) over the past decade has exceeded 17%.

The company attributes this growth to its flexible procurement and supply methods in response to changes in raw material market conditions, as well as the combination of its existing infrastructure and trading capabilities to secure additional revenue.

Yoon outlined three key directions for future growth: enhancing customer and supply sales networks, and expanding product offerings. The company plans to utilize its Ulsan LNG and LPG terminal and power plant to meet the increasing electricity demand driven by the spread of artificial intelligence (AI), and it is also considering overseas investment opportunities, including North American gas fields. Additionally, SK Gas intends to introduce ethane to expand its product portfolio from methane to butane.

SK Gas anticipates that it will begin significant growth investments between 2027 and 2030, with new business profits expected to materialize starting in 2031. The company plans to pursue investments, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), alongside shareholder returns, and is moving forward with a share buyback and cancellation plan worth a total of 90 billion won announced on October 13.

Yoon Byeong-seok stated, "The past decade has proven that SK Gas can turn market changes into opportunities. We are preparing for another leap forward based on our enhanced profit capacity and will grow together with our shareholders."
